The Journey
I started this journey back in the summer of 2011. As I look back, I feel that this program was a good match for both my personal and professional needs. In addition to design, development, and implementation, I’m also particularly interested in how to evaluate e-learning products. NOAA Pacific Services Center has plans to continue to develop e-learning modules and I feel this degree has been invaluable professional development experience.
From a personal perspective, I'm amazed at how tight our cohort (including the professors) has become even though we've only seen each other two or three times. I feel these personal relationships are just as important as the academic rigor of the program. The strong foundation of these relationships established during our very first retreat has carried throughout the program, which really has stressed the collaborative-based approach. In addition, my critical friends, Nick and Dana, have been a lifesavers through this past semester. With all that's been going in my personal life, they've been patient and understanding with me, always giving sage feedback and advice every step of the way. Finally, it's great to be in a program where you get so much one-on-one time with the professors. They care about what you're doing and are there to help you be successful. The journey would not be possible without their continued support.
As graduation creeps up in a couple of weeks, I doesn't seem that the chapter in my ETEC life is closing. I'm sure that my path will cross with many of my classmates, professors, future students, and ETEC ohana.
